چکیده
luorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/ omputed tomography (PET/CT) is a powerful tool in cancer maging. The basic principle is the accumulation of the radioharmaceutical in areas of increased glucose metabolism. owever, glucose is also an important substrate for inflamatory cells. Recent studies suggested that PET/CT findings hould be interpreted with caution in tuberculosis-endemic egions.1,2 Here we reported the images of two cases with ulmonary tuberculosis mimicking lung cancer. The first case was a 67-year-old female who was admited with a history of cough and hemoptysis for the last 3 onths. The computed tomography of thorax revealed a mass esion in the left upper lobe of 4.1 cm × 4.5 cm in diameter. The aximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of the mass esion was 13.6 on the PET/CT examination. Other case was 68-year-old male patient who was admitted with a history f 2 months of cough. The thorax CT revealed a 4 cm × 2 cm ass lesion with spicular radiation in the left upper lobe

Pulmonary tuberculosis with false-positive 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography mimicking recurrent lung cancer: A case report
Recurrent lung cancer is a common clinical condition. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is currently the predominant non-invasive imaging technique used for the detection of tumor recurrence. In the present study, the case of a 67-year-old male suspected to have postoperative recurrence of primary lung cancer was examined. Chest computed tomography (CT) scans identif...

Here, we describe a patient with a history of colorectal cancer in whom 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ([18F]FDG PET/CT) was performed for the evaluation of response to therapy. [18F]FDG PET/CT showed a small residual disease in the rectum. In addition, multiple metabolically inactive soft tissue densities were d...

متن کاملPredictive ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for pathological complete response and prognosis after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer patients
Objective The mortality of patients with locally advanced triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is high, and pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is associated with improved prognosis. This retrospective study was designed and powered to investigate the ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) to predict pat...
متن کاملPulmonary cryptococcosis and tuberculoma mimicking primary and metastatic lung cancer in 18F-FDG PET/CT.
18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) has been widely incorporated in cancer management. Although, it has increased sensitivity, 18F-FDG is not tissue specific thus posing diagnostic dilemma in certain situations. False positivity in pulmonary nodules have been seen in various inflammatory, infective as well as post operative conditions while false negativity is common w...
